BenchLeader

Embed and cite BenchLeader

Badges for READMEs and model cards, a top-10 leaderboard widget for any web page, and the reference to use for the BenchLeader Index in a paper or post. All free, all redrawn from the daily data (as of 2 Nov 2026).

README badge

Every model on a best-of list has a badge at /badge/<model-id>.svg. It shows the rank, how many models are on the list, the score the list is ranked on and the data date. The model id is the last part of its page URL.

Markdown, for Claude Opus 5.5 (model page):

[![Claude Opus 5.5 on BenchLeader: #1 overall](https://www.benchleader.com/badge/claude-opus-5-5.svg)](https://www.benchleader.com/models/claude-opus-5-5)

HTML:

<a href="https://www.benchleader.com/models/claude-opus-5-5"><img src="https://www.benchleader.com/badge/claude-opus-5-5.svg" alt="Claude Opus 5.5 on BenchLeader: #1 overall"></a>

Options, as query parameters:

  • ?theme=light for a light card; ?style=compact for a 20px line that sits with shields.io badges.
  • ?topic= to quote a different list: llm, llm-for-coding, llm-for-agents, cheap-llm, open-weights-llm, fastest-llm. The ids are the best-of list URLs.

Example: https://www.benchleader.com/badge/claude-opus-5-5.svg?topic=llm-for-coding&theme=light. Every model page has a picker with the lists that model is on, under “Embed or cite”.

Leaderboard widget

The top 10 on the BenchLeader Index in a small frame, light or dark to match the reader’s system. No script, no cookies, no tracking; each row links to the model page.

<iframe src="https://www.benchleader.com/embed/leaderboard" title="Top 10 LLMs on the BenchLeader Index" width="360" height="470" style="border:0;border-radius:10px;max-width:100%" loading="lazy"></iframe>
<p><a href="https://www.benchleader.com/leaderboards/quality">Data: BenchLeader</a> · CC BY 4.0</p>

If your site strips iframes (Medium, Substack, LinkedIn, a GitHub README), use the same top 10 as an image, /embed/leaderboard.svg, linked to the leaderboard. HTML:

<a href="https://www.benchleader.com/leaderboards/quality"><img src="https://www.benchleader.com/embed/leaderboard.svg" width="360" height="470" alt="Top 10 LLMs on the BenchLeader Index, data as of 2 Nov 2026"></a>
<p>Data: <a href="https://www.benchleader.com/leaderboards/quality">BenchLeader</a> · CC BY 4.0</p>

Markdown:

[![Top 10 LLMs on the BenchLeader Index](https://www.benchleader.com/embed/leaderboard.svg)](https://www.benchleader.com/leaderboards/quality)
Data: [BenchLeader](https://www.benchleader.com/leaderboards/quality) · CC BY 4.0

The Index, its category scores and the ranks are BenchLeader’s own figures, licensed CC BY 4.0: keep the “Data: BenchLeader” credit and link.

Cite the BenchLeader Index

The Index is rebuilt daily and its method is versioned (now v1.4, see the methodology), so a reference gives both the method version and the data date. Today’s, in APA style:

BenchLeader. (2026, November 2). The BenchLeader Index (method v1.4) [Data set]. Retrieved November 2, 2026, from https://www.benchleader.com/leaderboards/quality

BibTeX:

@misc{benchleader_index_20261102,
  author       = {{BenchLeader}},
  title        = {{The BenchLeader Index (method v1.4)}},
  year         = {2026},
  month        = nov,
  howpublished = {\url{https://www.benchleader.com/leaderboards/quality}},
  note         = {Data as of 2026-11-02}
}

For a single model, every model page gives its own reference under “Embed or cite”. For any other page, cite the page title, its data date and its URL; each data page ends with a “Cite as” line. The Index itself lives at the quality leaderboard, and the open data downloads carry the same date.

Embedding and citing: questions

Is the badge free to use?
Yes. The badges and widget are free to embed on any site, README or model card. BenchLeader's own figures (the Index, its interval, the category scores and the ranks) are CC BY 4.0: credit BenchLeader and link back, as the snippets do. Prices, speed and latency come from other publishers and are not ours to license.
How often does the badge update?
Every day, with the data. The badge is drawn from the latest daily build and cached for an hour; the card shows the data date (today 2 Nov 2026).
Does the badge work in a GitHub README?
Yes. It is a plain SVG image served as image/svg+xml, with no script or web fonts, so GitHub, GitLab, Hugging Face model cards and any Markdown renderer show it.
How do I cite the BenchLeader Index in a paper?
Cite the Index with the method version and the data date you used: BenchLeader. (2026, November 2). The BenchLeader Index (method v1.4) [Data set]. Retrieved November 2, 2026, from https://www.benchleader.com/leaderboards/quality
